For pets who are anxious in the clinic, seniors who can’t travel comfortably, or end-of-life care that should happen in the most peaceful setting possible, Dr. Ameis can come to you.

For a lot of pets, the hardest part of a vet visit is everything before the exam: the carrier, the car ride, a waiting room full of unfamiliar animals and smells. A house call removes all of it.
Dr. Ameis works at your pet’s pace, in the room where they already feel safe, and you are right there the whole time. More often than not, that means a calmer patient, a more thorough exam, and far less stress for everyone, including you.
Not every situation needs an exam room. These are the cases where home care actually serves your pet better.
Dogs and cats whose stress at the clinic makes a good exam impossible. The home environment changes everything.
Pets who struggle with car rides, stairs, or being lifted, especially those with arthritis, paralysis, or terminal illness.
In-home euthanasia is one of the most meaningful services we offer. Your pet’s final moments belong at home, in your arms.
Wellness visits for households with 3+ pets where one trip is more efficient than three.
Honest conversations about chronic illness, decision-making, and what comes next, with the time to talk it through.
First visits in the safety of home, with vaccines and a thorough exam where your pet feels secure.
House call visits handle most general practice and quality-of-life care. Some procedures still require clinic equipment or surgical sterility, and we’ll be honest about which ones.
House call visits are scheduled in advance based on availability and travel range from our Melrose Ave location.
