New Clients

Welcome to the family.

Everything you need to know before your pet’s first visit: what to bring, how to find us, and what to expect when you walk through the door.

A real first visit, not an assembly line

Most clinics book 12-minute first visits and rotate doctors each time. We do it differently. Your first visit at Paw Priority is a real conversation about your pet’s history, your concerns, and your goals, so the plan we build together actually fits.

The next few sections walk through everything you need to know before you walk in: what to bring, where to park, what the visit looks like, what it costs, and a handful of useful things most clinics don’t spell out.

A warm welcome at intake

Before you come

Bring whatever you have. Even partial records help us avoid duplicating tests your pet already had.

  • Past medical records from your previous vet (or have them emailed to hello@pp.vet)
  • Current vaccine history
  • A list of medications, supplements, or special diets your pet is on
  • A fresh stool sample if your pet has diarrhea or other GI signs
  • For cats, a familiar towel or blanket in the carrier can ease the trip

What your visit looks like

Most new-client visits run 30 to 45 minutes. We don’t rush you out.

  1. Check-in. We’ll grab a few quick details and your pet’s history. If you’ve sent records ahead, even better.
  2. Vitals with our techs. Weight, temperature, a chat about your pet’s recent history and any concerns.
  3. Time with Dr. Ameis. A thorough head-to-tail exam and a real conversation about what your pet needs.
  4. Diagnostics or treatments, if needed. Bloodwork, vaccines, or any same-day care. We’ll always walk you through pricing first.
  5. Check-out. A clear plan for next steps, with SOAP notes emailed to you afterward.
