Emergency Care

Emergency? Call us first.

We triage every emergency and handle the full range of urgent care, major surgeries, and specialty consultations in-house. The only times we refer out are for overnight hospitalization or true 24/7 critical monitoring — and when we do, we can connect you directly with an ER doctor to save time at intake.

What we handle in-house

A lot of what gets sent to an emergency room can be handled by your urgent-care vet — usually faster and at a fraction of the cost.

Vomiting & diarrhea

Including bloody, persistent, or recurrent — with same-day fluid therapy, anti-nausea care, and in-house diagnostics.

Allergic reactions

Hives, facial swelling, vaccine reactions, and bee stings — quickly assessed and treated.

Lacerations & wounds

Wound cleaning, suturing, abscess drainage, and follow-up care for cuts and bite wounds.

Toxin exposure

Call us first — many ingestions can be safely managed with same-day decontamination and monitoring, without an ER trip.

Limping & acute pain

Soft-tissue injuries, sprains, dislocations, and pain control — with x-rays in-house.

Eye & ear emergencies

Acute eye pain, sudden discharge, foreign bodies, severe ear infections.

Why call us first.

Most “emergencies” can be handled in our urgent visit slots — same day, sometimes same hour. We also perform major emergency surgeries (including GDV, splenectomy, and C-sections) and bring board-certified specialists on-site when complex cases call for them. For the rare situation that needs overnight hospitalization or true 24/7 monitoring, we have a direct line to an ER doctor that lets us skip the standard intake queue. Coming to us first usually saves time at the ER, not loses it.

When do we refer to the ER

Two situations call for a 24/7 emergency hospital. We’ll always tell you honestly when that’s the case.

Overnight hospitalization

Pets that need IV fluids, continuous monitoring, or supportive care through the night, when we’re closed.

True 24/7 critical care

Unstable pets needing around-the-clock monitoring or oxygen support beyond what we can provide during business hours.

When we’re closed

Outside of our hours, these are the two closest 24/7 emergency hospitals.
