Compare VIPP, insurance, both, or paying as you go, with your own numbers.
They do different jobs. VIPP covers the visits you’ll definitely need. Insurance protects against the big bill you hope never comes. Run your numbers.
VIPP is a wellness membership. One annual price covers unlimited exams, rechecks, and follow-ups with same- or next-day urgent priority, so cost is never the reason you wait. VIPP+ adds annual bloodwork, EKG, x-rays, and blood pressure. Pre-existing conditions aren’t excluded, because it isn’t insurance. Pet insurance is a financial safety net. It reimburses a percentage of large, unexpected bills after a deductible, but typically excludes pre-existing conditions, has waiting periods, and doesn’t cover routine wellness unless you add a rider. Premiums usually rise as pets age.
Senior pets, pets with chronic conditions, and anyone who comes in four or more times a year. In a typical year, the services bundled into VIPP+ cost $1,374 or more priced separately. See the full breakdown on our membership page.
No. VIPP is a wellness membership paid to Paw Priority that covers unlimited exams and rechecks (and annual diagnostics with VIPP+). Insurance reimburses part of large unexpected bills. They work well together.
Yes. Because VIPP isn’t insurance, pre-existing conditions aren’t excluded. Whatever your pet walks in with, we’ll work to manage it.
VIPP is $399 per pet per year and VIPP+ is $799 per pet per year, billed annually for a one-year term. Details on our membership page.
If an unexpected $5,000 to $10,000 bill would be a hardship, insurance is worth considering, ideally while your pet is young and healthy, before conditions become pre-existing. VIPP covers the routine side.
